Resizing Graphics Example

Netscape Users: Ignore two error messages

The first set of graphics is a Gif animation which has been scaled to 3 sizes. It looks best at 80 x 60 which is the original size. At 160 x 120 it is at best pixelated for Explorer users while Netscape users have coloration problems. At 30 x 80 it looks distorted but the colors are appropriate. This gives some flexibility in absolute size of graphics. Of course jpegs and non-animated gifs may also be scaled to taste.

This second set of graphics is an embedded avi which was created at 300 x 60. It is also displayed at 600 x 120 and 400 x 100 to graphically explain that avis can also be scaled to virtually any dimension. Unfortunately, only Internet Explorer supports scalable avis. The two error messages Netscape users get on loading this page are because the avi plug-in cannot support 3 instances of the same avi on the same page. You can play multiple avis on the same page, but not 3 copies of the same avi. The sizing is not quite right for Explorer users and many of the thin horizontal avis on our free graphics pages do not display at all for Explorer users. That is because we have opted to use html coding appropriate for Netscape embedded avis. Explorer will also display them perfectly but requires slightly different html coding. Wouldn't it be great if Netscape and MS got together for "real" standards. Probably not in my lifetime.
